Super-Efficient Equipment Programme
Introduction
The primary objective is to accelerate the shift to energy efficient appliances through innovative measures to make the products affordable. Super-efficient appliances are proposed to be developed with an aim to reduce consumption and enable demand side management. The goal is not only to reduce cost of energy efficient equipment to stimulate accelerated market transformation but also to encourage domestic manufacturing to sustain the market.
Rationale
India experience
The Super-Efficient Equipment Programme has been undertaken under the National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency’s initiative of Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has announced the programme for ceiling fans, and has initiated a dialogue with manufacturers on setting the technical specifications, monitoring process, etc.
