The government of Uttar Pradesh recognizes that the road accidents involve roads, road users, and motor vehicles and hence road safety demands a holistic approach. As per the policy statements, the government will make serious efforts to promote awareness about road safety problems, its social and economic implications. It will establish a state level road safety information system. Under this policy a State Road Safety Fund will be created. It will also take steps to promote conscious planning for safe design of roads and ensure that the best practices should be incorporated in designing the roads. Steps will be taken to promote statutory periodic inspection as an essential check on the road-worthiness of all vehicles. Government will take stringent measures to improve air quality emitted from the vehicles. Road safety will be made as an integral part of the syllabus in schools and colleges.
