Title: Manipur Grid Interactive Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Power Policy, 2014
Organization:Government of Manipur
Date:December 2014

This policy was adopted by the Government of Manipur on 1 December 2014 for promoting grid quality solar power generation. The policy aims to lay a framework for harnessing solar energy by utilizing the empty rooftops of the buildings in the state. It also aims to harness the available potential for generating solar power using unutilized space, along with the promotion of green and clean power to reduce the dependence on conventional source of energy. The excess power can be sold back to the power company. The possible models are (i) solar rooftop facility owned, operated, and maintained by consumers; (ii) solar rooftop facility owned by consumer but operated and maintained by a third party; and (iii) solar installations at roofs of government and its allied buildings/structures. The Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) will be the implementing agency for rooftop solar system in government departments and its allied institutions so as to ensure quality of the equipment installed and for smooth performance. The policy also suggests for (i) load up to 8 kW - low voltage single phase supply; (ii) load > 8 kW and up to 75 kW - low voltage three phase supply; and (iii) load > 75 kW and up to 500 kW.
