Anticipating proposals to set up metro rail in 34 cities that have one million plus population, the MoUD (Ministry of Urban Development) has drafted a consolidated policy that focuses on both public-private partnership and government funding models for the reference of state government. Most of the cities are in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab.
