74% of the world's population will be exposed to deadly heat-waves by 2100, if carbon dioxide emissions continue to rise at current rates, a study warns. Even if emissions are aggressively reduced, the percentage of the world's human population affected is expected to reach 48 per cent, researchers said in the study published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
