Title: Global warming, climate change adding sting to mosquito bites, spurt in vector-borne diseases

Global warming and climate change are making mosquitoes bolder and the germs they transmit stronger, leading to a spurt in mosquito borne diseases, particularly chikungunya, researchers have discovered. Scientists at the city-based (IICT) Indian Institute of Chemical Technology have found a link between increase in chikungunya cases in south India and global warming. The increase in average daily temperature is causing a higher incidence of chikungunya.
