The Tamil Nadu government has decided to take up the construction of another 60,000 houses under the Chief Minister’s Solar Powered Green House Scheme. It would also expand existing programmes by installing 20,000 solar-powered street lamps, developing 15,115 habitations, clock 42.85 crore man hours under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) and construct a lakh houses under the Indira Awas Yojana.
