Title: Sembcorp Energy commissions wind project, to give clean power to 6 lakh homes

Sembcorp Energy India Limited, owned by Singapore-based energy and infrastructure group Sembcorp Industries, became the first independent power producer to fully commission the first three wind auctions held by the SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) after it completed its projects that have a combined capacity of 800 MW. This takes Sembcorp's total capacity across the country to 1,730 MW. The company said that it provides clean power to more six lakh households across seven states, saving carbon dioxide emissions in excess of 2 million tonnes per annum. The three latest projects of Sembcorp have a capacity of 250 MW, 250 MW, and 300 MW respectively. The first one is based in Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, while the latter two are in Bhuj, Gujarat. The combined acreage of the projects is 2,606 square kilometres.
