Title: Biodiesel (FAME) and Ethanol Blend Measurements
Organization:Wilks-Spectro Scientific Company
Source:Wilks-Spectro Scientific Company

Wilks Enterprise, founded in 1995, specializes in easy-to-use, portable infrared analyzers. Wilks has over 3500 InfraCal Analyzers in operation worldwide. With the increase of biodiesel and ethanol blended into petrol fuels, those involved in the downstream end of fuel blending and distribution need a quick and easy way to measure how much biodiesel is blended in diesel fuel or ethanol into gasoline. The InfraCal Biodiesel Blend and Ethanol Blend Analyzers are designed for the rugged environment of a fuel loading rack or terminal.

InfraCal 2 Analyzer has a new touch screen interface which includes:

# Password protected calibrations and instrument settings
# Unlimited data storage/transfer and multiple calibrations

Percentage of FAME (Biodiesel) in Diesel Fuel: InfraCal Analyzers give fuel distributors, blenders, producers or regulators a quick test for determining the percent biodiesel in the diesel fuels. All Wilks FAME blend products are compact, portable, rugged and specifically designed for on-site or laboratory testing by non-technical personnel. The analysis is done in a few minutes. The InfraCal Analyzers are stand-alone fixed filter infrared instruments that use the wavelength for biodiesel analysis as specified in ASTM 7371 and EN 14078.

Percentage Ethanol in Petrol Fuel: Too much ethanol in gasoline can cause issues in some engines. In order to verify the ethanol is blended correctly or a received fuel load is as specified, the Wilks InfraCal Ethanol Blend Analyzer gives result in under a minute that will be comparable to gas chromatographic methods and ASTM 4815. These easy-to-use, cost competitive instruments can be located right at a loading rack or in a laboratory.

Outcome/Benefits: InfraCal Analyzers are portable, rugged and compact and can be supplied with an internal battery for on-site testing. Benefits and features include -- no sample preparation necessary; analysis less than 1 minute; biodiesel measurement range: 0.2%-100%; and ethanol measurement range: 0.2%-98%.

Commercially tested: Yes
