The report is a process document; a brief, non-technical account of the process by which SDC and TERI worked in partnership to successfully develop and demonstrate energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly biomass gasifier systems for heat applications in SMiEs, and the measures taken to replicate the systems in other applications throughout the country. It highlights the participatory approach to develop technological solutions for SMiEs, the problems encountered and their resolution, as well as socioeconomic issues that have had to be confronted and tackled. It describes the experiences of project teams and other stakeholders in the field, and discusses both their achievements and their setbacks—for lessons may be drawn from these by future researchers and others interested in the field.
