About KxSD

Knowledge x-change for Sustainable Development (KxSD) is an initiative by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) supported by UK Government.

The key objectives of the portal are to:
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across the many facets of sustainable development;
  • Showcase new research and innovative practices, share knowledge and success stories from diverse regions and sectors, targeted at policy makers and the wider research community;
  • Focus on three main dimensions of sustainable development -- policy imperatives, technology & innovations, and community partnership -- along with their interlinked components in the identified themes and sub-themes.

Rationale
As policies have wider implications, it is important to draw lessons from successes and failures of the past experiences, wherever applicable, in understanding and capturing ground realities in both policy research and policy formulation. Exchange of ideas and knowledge would not only help identify/understand the policy gaps in various areas, but to further amend these in order to make them more effective in achieving the intended goals.

The e-resources of the portal mainly focus on three main dimensions of the work i.e. policy imperatives, technology & innovations, and community partnership in sustainable development along with their interlinked components in the identified themes and sub-themes.
Policy: Conducive policies and supporting regulatory frameworks are essential for facilitating the sustainable growth in various sectors of the economy. Exchange of ideas and knowledge through the portal will help identify/understand the policy gaps in various areas and also to further amend these in order to make them more effective in achieving the intended goals.

Technology & innovation: Emerging sustainable technologies are vital to strengthen efforts for achieving the goals of sustainable development. The portal will facilitate dissemination of information on technologies that are low cost, more efficient, appropriate to the local, regional and global conditions and within the technical capacity of the benefiting community to operate and maintain.

Community partnership: Developing sustainable communities is significant for fostering social equity and civil society participation in planning and implementation of sustainability. The portal will promote community partnership issues and development processes to create awareness among various stakeholders.
