Industrial Cluster Development Programme

Introduction

The programme, undertaken by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, seeks to spread message of conservation and improving global competitiveness of the industries by a concerted effort in industrial clusters and implementing energy audit recommendation for demonstration purpose.

Rationale

  • The programme aims to improve energy efficiency in entire cluster by developing demonstration units in each industrial cluster. These demonstration units highlight the benefits of adopting energy efficiency program and emphasizing its effect on the bottom line of units.

India experience

Under this programme, 300 units in 30 clusters (@10 units per cluster) are to be taken up for demonstration in the first year. Demonstration units (Beneficiary industry) have to contribute a minimum 25% to 50% of the hardware cost depending on the size of unit it as per details given below: 1. Industries in Micro & Small Sectors: min 25% 2. Industries in Medium Sector: min 50%
