The Five Year Plans (FYPs) of the Government of India provide the overall direction and basic framework for the country's policies, programmes and schemes in India. These Five Year Plans are implemented through Annual Plans (APs). The Twelfth Five Year Plan 2012-17 emphasizes that India's first priority must be to bring the economy back to rapid growth while ensuring that the growth is both inclusive and sustainable.The Twelfth Plan aims at catalyzing a growth process which has the structural characteristics that will promote inclusiveness.The Twelfth Five Year Plan consists of 3 volumes. The first volume deals with Faster, More Inclusive and Sustainable Growth which includes macroeconomic framework, financing the plan, sustainable development, water, land issues, environment, forestry and wildlife, science and technology, innovation, governance, and regional equality. The second volume deals with the economic sectors namely: agriculture, industry, energy, transport, communication, rural Development, urban development, and other priority sectors. The third volume deals with health, education, employment and skill development, women's agency and child rights, and social inclusion.
