Illegal mobile towers are posing a serious threat to the health of human beings and animals in Karnal town in Haryana, but the authorities are wary of getting the towers removed. Most of the towers have been erected on rooftops in congested areas. The local authorities are aware about the number and location of mobile towers but have done nothing beyond serving notices on the owners of the plots and houses and the mobile companies owning and operating the illegal towers.
