Title: Cabinet nod for pacts on renewable energy

The Union Cabinet on August 12 2015 gave an ex-post-facto approval to Memorandum of Understandings signed with the US, France and Mongolia in the field of renewable energy. The MoU with US was to set up a ‘Pace Setter Fund’ to support the energy access track of the US-India Partnership to Advance Clean Energy and accelerate commercialisation of innovative off-grid clean energy solutions. Approval was also given to an MoU signed in Paris, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit there to promote cooperation in new and renewable energy issues. The third MoU getting an ex-post-facto approval was with Mongolia to establish a basis for institutional relationship to encourage and promote technical bilateral cooperation on new and renewable energy issues.
