Title: Government okays norms to set up charging infra for electric vehicles

The government approved amendments to Model Building Bye-laws (MBBL), 2016 and Urban Regional Development Plans Formulation and Implementation (URDPFI) Guidelines, 2014, to set up charging stations for electric vehicles across the country, an official said. With this, the government aims to move 25% of the transportation to electric vehicles by 2030 in order to reduce air pollution. “The guidelines will act as a guiding document to the state governments and union territories to incorporate the norms and standards of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in their respective building bye-laws,” a spokesperson for the ministry of housing and urban affairs said.
