Title: Centre asks states to verify 19.5 lakh forest land claims in 15 days

The Centre has asked state governments to go to villages and validate the 19.5 lakh rejected forest rights claims on the ground within a fortnight. The ministry of tribal affairs has directed the states to entrust the responsibility of sanitising the data at the village level to district collectors. A format has been given to the states to provide the data to the ministry within 15 days.
