Global corporate funding in the solar power sector jumped 34 per cent to $9 billion in the first nine months of 2019, according to clean energy consulting firm Mercom. In the third quarter ended September, solar funding more than doubled to $3 billion from $1.3 billion in the same quarter last year. The main highlights of the current year included five Initial Public Offers and over a billion dollars in securitization deals so far. Global Venture Capital funding in the solar power sector in the period between January and September 2019 rose 13 per cent to $1 billion while global VC funding in the third quarter (July-September) totalled $208 million.
