Title: Delhi air pollution: ‘Farm fires key factor for bad air in last 2 weeks’

An analysis of the pollution levels in Delhi over the past 15 days by The Energy and Resources Institute (Teri) has revealed that the sharp deterioration in air quality was largely due to agricultural activities, apart from adverse meteorological conditions. “Along with year-round sources of pollutants, agricultural burning is a prime contributor. A large number of fires in the upwind states was detected between October 26 and 30, which are now, after the transport of the pollutants through wind, adversely affecting air quality in Delhi,” said Dr Ajay Mathur, director general, Teri.
