Title: Maharashtra staring at sea-rise, floods, cyclones and humidity: IPCC

Damages from rising sea levels in Mumbai are estimated to reach Rs 4,900 to Rs 5,000 crore by 2050, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report released on 01 March 2022. Stressing that Mumbai is at a high risk of severe flooding and sea-level rise, the United Nations report stated that the resulting damage in the state capital might even go up Rs 12,082 crore annually by 2050 if the emissions continue to grow. The IPCC recently released the second part of its sixth assessment report, which also highlighted the impact of cyclones.
