The Punjab government has approved the enactment of NRSE (New and Renewable Sources of energy) Policy- 2012, to develop and promote new and renewable sources of energy. A decision to this effect was taken by the state Cabinet in its meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, an official spokesman said here. He said the policy is aimed at maximising and improving the share of new and renewable sources of energy to 10 per cent of the total installed power capacity of the state by the year 2020 besides promoting renewable energy initiatives for meeting energy and lighting needs.
