In order to ensure effective disposal of solid waste in its areas, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) is ready with its 'E-Municipality Solid Waste Disposal Monitoring System'. The system will enable online monitoring of all vehicles carrying waste through GPS and radio frequency identification devices. With its introduction, the entire garbage collection and disposal mechanism in East Delhi areas will be placed under electronic surveillance. The Corporation has equipped the garbage trucks with radio frequency tags and auto-tippers with GPS devices to monitor their movement. Further, the civic body has made photography of garbage-lifting mandatory, while the drivers of the garbage vehicles will be provided with hand-held devices to calculate the total volume of garbage being lifted from a site.
