Source:The Times of India
Date:15 March 2014

The high court on March 14 2014 asked the government and the KSPCB (Karnataka State Pollution Control Board) to deploy dedicated staff to prevent and immediately respond to any violation relating to air and sound pollution. "You have to depute dedicated staff. Whenever a violation is noticed, swift, stringent and certain action should be taken by way of seizure of equipment and stopping blaring music, etc. Rather than the severity, it is the certainty of punishment that is important. Even if you are able to ensure that 2-5% is convicted or steep penalty imposed on violators, it will serve the purpose," a division bench headed by the Chief Justice observed. It adjourned hearing of a suo motu PIL on sound pollution.
