The Karnataka State government has proposed to revive the Jalasamvardhane project with external financial assistance to rejuvenate 5000 tanks. Minister for Minor Irrigation Shivaraj S Tangadagi said that officials had been instructed to prepare an action plan for rejuvenation of these tanks. The cost of the project would be known after the action plan was prepared. The government was planning to propose this project either to the World Bank or the Japan International Cooperation Agency for getting financial aid. The project would involve dredging, clearing encroachments and development. The government would use the Geographical Positioning System technology for the proposed project to make sure that the dredging was effective.
