The Delhi Development Authority in its board meeting on June 26 2014 approved one time rebate in surcharge of water bills.Due to huge outstandings in payment of water bills against consumers at Dwarka and Rohini, it was proposed to the authority that one-time rebate in surcharge may be allowed to such consumers who pay their outstandings bills in installments but within a certain time frame. The one- time rebate proposed was in the surcharge which is charged due to delayed payment. It was envisaged that it would facilitate payment, safeguard interests of the consumers and will also affect realisation of outstanding amount. The rebate proposed was 50 per cent in case the bills are paid within three months, 40 per cent in case the bills are paid within six months and 30 per cent if the bills are paid within nine months.
