The theme of the report is the ‘Human Factor in Innovation’. It aims to capture the multi-dimensional facets of innovation and to be applicable to developed and emerging economies alike. In doing so, it helps policy makers and business leaders move beyond one-dimensional innovation metrics towards a more holistic analysis of innovation drivers and outcomes. This report presents different aspects of the index and the theme, followed by appendices that provide the data from individual data tables for each indicator, a profile for each of the countries/economies covered this year, detailed information about the sources and definitions of each indicator, and technical notes about the composition of the index.
