More than 4.5 lakh households in the state generate 1,584 megawatt of solar power through rooftops. The state is the leader when it comes to rooftop solar power generation. The minister of state for energy, Mr Mukesh Patel stated that as on December 31, 2022 the state had 9,712 megawatt installed capacity for wind energy while another 8,640 megawatt installed capacity for solar power. The minister stated that Gujarat’s share in country’s installed capacity of wind energy was 23% while the same for solar energy was 13.6%. He informed the assembly that in wind energy the installed capacity was 4,906.68 megawatt in Kutch followed by 1,948 megwatt in Jamnagar, 734 megawatt in Rajkot, 456 megawatt in Amreli.
